The discography of Alanis Morissette, a Canadian-American singer-songwriter, comprises nine studio albums, three live albums, half dozen compilation albums, two extended plays, 43 singles, twelve promotional singles, six video albums, and 33 music videos. She has sold more than than 60 million albums worldwide.[1] [ii] [three]

With the stage proper name of Alanis, she signed a record deal with the Canadian division of MCA Records for 2 dance-pop albums. The label released her cocky-titled anthology (1991), which was certified platinum by the Canadian Recording Industry Association and earned her a Juno Honor,[4] and Now Is the Fourth dimension (1992), which was less successful. These albums, released simply in Canada, are often not mentioned in the media, which tend to consider Jagged Little Pill (1995), released on Maverick Records, as her debut album.[5] [six] [7] [8] Jagged remains 1 of the most successful albums in music history, holding the record as the acknowledged debut album worldwide, the 2nd best-selling anthology by a female artist (backside Shania Twain's Come On Over)[ix] and having sold more than 33 million copies worldwide.[10] Such hits as "You Oughta Know", "Mitt in My Pocket", "Ironic", and "Head over Feet" helped Morissette go the showtime Canadian woman to elevation the Billboard 200.[xi] Jagged stayed there for 12 weeks[12] and remained in the Meridian 10 for a twelvemonth and a half (72 weeks).[13] Between 1996 and 1997 Morissette won four Grammy Awards, 3 MTV Video Music Awards, and seven Juno Awards.[iv] [14] [fifteen] In improver, Jagged Footling Pill, Live earned her another Grammy Laurels in 1998.[14]

Morissette contributed to the City of Angels soundtrack, writing and performing "Uninvited". Under Rug Swept (2002), her following release, debuted at number 1 in 12 countries, including the United States (where it was her tertiary consecutive number-one album),[19] and produced the hit single "Hands Make clean". The album helped Morissette get the Jack Richardson Producer of the Yr Award.[4] Having many leftovers from the Under Rug Swept recording session, Morissette released Feast on Scraps, a CD/DVD package, the same twelvemonth.[20] So-Called Chaos (2004) debuted at number five on Billboard 200 and was less successful. In 2005, Morissette released The Drove, her commencement then far the simply greatest hits compilation, and Jagged Niggling Pill Acoustic, which marked a x-year anniversary of the original album.
